Packet's brother, Lackey, is scavenging around the local beach when he disappears. He leaves a trail behind of his favorite treat: yogurt-covered raisins! Packet finds the trail and follows it, knowing that to locate his missing brother, he must first... say it with me... FIND THE RAISINS!
Game play follows a very familiar formula for fans of the genre. You are the hero mouse, who finds himself in a closed-off maze filled with bouncing white dots -- the aforementioned raisins. Collect them all to clear the maze and proceed with your mission. Wait, there are also ghosts! Or, at least, I think they are ghosts. They sure do smell like they came fresh out of the dryer. Anyways, contact with the ghosts will scare our hero, and he will faint, forcing you to replay the level.
Packet and his foes will increase in speed and skill as the game continues. This allows younger players to start the game and not be intimidated, while eventually giving the proper challenge to veteran players.
Three game modes offer unique challenges for players of all backgrounds and skill levels.
STORY: Packet's quest to find the raisins leading him to his missing brother takes him to a strange beach-side house. Almost immediately, he discovers the residence is abandoned except for some small, sheet-covered, wiggly defenders --- ghosts! Packet must collect all of the raisins in order to find a key that unlocks his progression. Along the way, he will find secret levels and riddles that require solving before he can partake in the final challenges!
ARCADE: All of the fast-paced ghost dodging of the story mode, but in a classic linear arcade-style environment. No riddles to solve here! Only your reflexes will help you reach your missing brother. Yes, there is an end to the Arcade mode! It does not run on into infinity!
COMBO: The key to increasing your score is collecting the most raisins in a row without a break. This game mode places the player into twelve mazes without enemies and tasks them to figure out the optimal path to take for the maximum score! A true mental challenge!
When developing games, I strive for two things: quality and value. I want to ensure that not only is the game functioning as you would expect it to perform, but that it gives you the proper entertainment value for your hard-earned money. This game was made available to the public to play at the Midwest Gaming Classic 2025. Through this, I gained valuable insight into its original control issues, took appreciated feedback, and returned to the drawing board to correct them. I am proud to say that Packet handles very similarly to our yellow dot-gobbling friend. Thank you to all who participated!
As for value, this came very easily. For as iconic as our round, yellow friend's game is, it is very lacking in content. It relies on one repeating maze with increasing difficulty. I have expanded upon this formula with many mazes, in both a "real world" environment as well as the traditional arcade style. In addition, story mode challenges players to think along the lines of an adventure game and explore for hidden secrets, levels and clues! Even when you find your brother to finish the game, a larger challenge awaits -- 100% completion! Can you do it? There's only one way to find out - Join us!
Players are given plenty of customization options before they even begin the game:
Choose to play alone, or have a friend join in on the fun!
The 2nd player can be configured to share the 1st player's controller or use their own if preferred
Three game-play modes as explained above (Story, Arcade, Combo)
Are 3 lives not enough? Or too many? Adjust your starting life count from 1 to 7!
Does Packet start off too slow for you? Are you ready to zoom? You can immediately boost his speed by up to 3 levels!
Turn the sound effects and/or background music on or off. This is helpful for those who want to get up early or stay up late to play while not disturbing others. Packet is so fun, you may lose track of time!
What else? Shhh! It's a secret, which leads me to...
Who will be the first to locate the fabled "Minus World?" This and plenty of other in-game hidden treasures and game play options are waiting to be discovered!
